This funding opportunity has two main objectives:

2016 Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) program competition

The 2016 CECR competition is seeking to fund new centres that can build on Canada’s Research and Development (R&D) landscape by enabling the commercialization of research by matching clusters of academic research expertise with the needs of business, health practitioners and other end users. The emphasis of the CECR program is on commercialization, including new technologies, and goods and services. Centres seeking funding must be able to demonstrate a robust business plan and a feasible plan for sustainability.

The Developmental Services (DS) Research Grant Fund was created in 2012 to support research and innovative initiatives for the DS sector.  A competitive call for proposals was used to select six projects for funding.  This is the second call for research proposals on three particular topics.

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority, through this grant program, will make strategic investments in Internet related community projects consistent with CIRA’s Strategic Plan. In addition, the projects selected will need to demonstrate their ability to support one of the fundamental tenets of the organization, which is to develop, carry out and/or support any other Internet-related activities in Canada.

Ontario Centres of Excellence - 2015 Explore Program

2015 Explore, through a collaboration between CQDM and OCE the Explore Program has been extended to the scientific community of Ontario.

The research scope includes biological and health sciences, chemistry, engineering, nanotechnologies, computational sciences, medical devices, imaging, biosensors, etc.  The ultimate goal of this CQDM-OCE collaboration is to challenge established practices and conventional wisdom in the drug R&D process.

2016 Highway Infrastructure Innovation Funding Program
The Highway Infrastructure Innovation Funding Program provides funding to Ontario Universities and Colleges to encourage applied research in topics related to transportation infrastructure in Ontario.  This program solicits research proposals from institutions to assist the Ministry in meeting our current and future challenges, and to encourage undergraduate and graduate research in transportation and infrastructure related engineering.

The Canadian High Arctic Research Station’s (CHARS) pan-northern S&T program has launched its’ first call for Proposals. This first CFP’s will initiate elements of the CHARS program by requesting proposals that will: strengthen monitoring in northern Canada; and fill research gaps in northern regions of significant resource development. For the purposes of CHARS, Canada’s Arctic is defined as the lands and waters that lie north of the permafrost line.
