Burroughs Wellcome Fund – Career Guidance for Trainees

The Career Guidance for Trainees (CGT) institutional award provides support for projects that improve trainees’ readiness for stable, fulfilling careers and that have potential for being affordably deployed at a larger scale. Note that this program is not a mechanism for support of biomedical research projects by individual investigators. Proposals involving partnerships between institutions or organizations are encouraged, but those not involving partnerships are also invited.

Foundation Fighting Blindness – Operating Grant

Operating grants support specific research projects conducted by scientists appointed at Canadian research institutes, universities and hospitals. To be eligible to make a full proposal to this competition, research teams are first asked to submit a Letter of Intent describing their intended program of research and its suitability for FFB funding.

NSERC 2015 Strategic Network Grants – Call for Preliminary Applications

Strategic Network Grants (SNGs) fund large-scale, multi-disciplinary research projects that require a network approach and that involve collaboration between academic researchers and Canadian-based organizations. SNGs fund projects in the following target areas: (i) Environmental Science and Technologies, (ii) Information and Communications Technologies, (iii) Manufacturing, and (iv) Natural Resources and Energy. The objective of SNGs is to increase research and training in targeted areas that could strongly enhance Canada’s economy, society and/or environment within the next 10 years.

Competition launched: New CIFSRF call for proposal in 2015 *updated February 12, 2105

The call will support projects that aim to develop, test and apply ways to scale up food security and nutrition innovations, particularly ones that address the needs of women small-scale farmers as core users. It will support projects that take effective, pilot-tested, innovations to a wider scale of use and application, to deliver meaningful development outcomes (i.e. reaching important numbers of end-users) through the effective deployment of scaling up models, delivery mechanisms and approaches.
