During the week of November 28 to December 6, 2015, representatives of the University of Guelph (Dr. Malcolm Campbell, VP Research and Dr. Richard Heck) participated in delegation of Association of Canadian Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (ACFAVM) visiting with counterpart university officials, research and student funding agencies, and federal and state agencies in Brazil. The objective of the Mission was to enhance relations between Canadian and Brazilian universities and agencies, to enhance opportunities for student and researcher mobility between Canada and Brazil, and to develop and enhance research collaborations between Canada and Brazil. Specific institutions visited included Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de de Queiroz, Instituto Agronômico de Campinas, Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Universidade de Brasília, Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Brazil, and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture in Brazil. In conjunction with the Universidade de Brasília, the ACFAVM also organized the 'Brazil-Canada Symposium on University Research and Education in Agriculture', which involved the participation of various Brazilian universities and funding organizations. Canadian Ambassador Riccardo Savone as well as several senior Brazilian officials also took part in the symposium.
