Tyler is a results-driven professional with over a decade of experience commercializing technology and developing talent. He has been through 3 incubators/accelerators, evaluated the market potential of over 20 university inventions, filed patents, built and operated a campus-linked incubator, and helped scale a start-up during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Manager of New Venture Creation, Tyler leverages his experiences to strengthen the University of Guelph's commercialization ramp and increase the amount of entrepreneurial talent and technology on provincial and national stages. Outside of his work, he is passionate about getting outdoors, exercising, and expressing his creative side through photography and cooking.
Tyler Zemlak has a B.Sc. Honours in Marine and Freshwater Biology and M.Sc. in Integrative Biology from the University of Guelph. In 2011, he completed his Ph.D. in Conservation Genetics from Dalhousie University. Tyler has authored and co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the fields of biology, DNA barcoding, conserveration genetics and medicine which can be found on his Google Scholar profile.
