The University of Guelph

Established in Guelph, Ontario in 1964 (but with colleges dating back to the 19th century), the University of Guelph is a research-intensive university that has built a reputation as a leader in life sciences, based in part on a long-standing history of achievement in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine. Home to seven colleges, three regional campuses and the University of Guelph-Humber collaboration, the University of Guelph collectively serves approximately 19,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students.

The University of Guelph has a long-standing history of, and on-going, commitment to accountability and public disclosure. At Guelph, accountability is demonstrated through action and recorded through a plethora of publications, reports and public documents ranging from student surveys to audited financial statements to planning documents.

The university functions with a bicameral governance structure: the Senate is responsible for academic policy while the Board of Governors is responsible for the management and control of the University property, revenues, expenditures, business and affairs.

The titular head of the University is the Chancellor, elected by Senate, while the President is the Vice-Chancellor. Both are members of the Board of Governors.

Five areas report to the president:

Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
Vice-President (Finance, Administration and Risk)
