Assistant or Associate Professor Position in Landscape Architecture Available

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position for Assistant/Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture. 

Our mission in Landscape Architecture is to excel at comprehensive and evidence-based education, innovation, and scholarship in the art and science of landscape architecture preparing graduates to lead professional practice into the future. We invite applications from qualified candidates who can work within our interdisciplinary environment and who can contribute to teaching across the School’s programs. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the development and delivery of Landscape Architecture instruction in lecture and studio courses, seminars, and fieldwork, and in the supervision of Master’s and PhD students.

At a minimum, we require a colleague who will teach the discipline and practice of design to Landscape Architecture students through the development of knowledge, skills and values in a variety of applications.  We are seeking an individual with specific strength in the area of, but not limited to, landscape architectural construction and technology. Interest in ecological design, green infrastructure, plant identification and planting design (preferred), and/or manual and digital technologies for construction communication and management are desirable.

Anticipating a future defined by both global practice and program applicants with a crusading determination to manage resources critical to human well-being and environmental resiliency, we welcome a colleague interested in pursuing effective outcomes through leadership, collaboration and innovative design.

You will be expected to contribute to our professional Bachelor and Master of Landscape Architecture programs in the capacity of teaching, research and service and to participate in the supervision of Master’s students and with potential for PhD students (preferred).

Applicants must have a degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program; a Master degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional practice; and/or a PhD (preferred) in Landscape Architecture or relevant discipline (the Ph.D. degree must be completed or nearing completion at the time of the appointment). Depending on these qualifications, the successful applicant should have a strong record of significant professional practice and/or research productivity and, preferably, previous teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels.  Applicants should have membership in the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects or be eligible for and interested in attaining membership.
