TA/GSA-1 Work Assignment Closure & Validation of Seniority Points

Here are a few notes on the process to close a TA/GSA-1 work assignment / work record and award Seniority Points:

NEW! TA Assignment of Work Agreements

UPDATED Fall 2020

It is the joint responsibility of the supervisor and the TA to ensure that the total hours of work as defined in the Offer are not exceeded on a weekly and/or semesterly basis. A meeting to discuss responsibilities and estimated hours of work, and complete the TA Work Agreement, must be held within five (5) days of the commencement of employment. This meeting shall be included in the assigned hours of work.

How do I assign a work assignment to a TA who has not applied for a specific posting, but who has selected “consider me for all”?

Applicants who choose "Consider me for all" on their application, are considered if and when there are no other suitable applicants who applied for that position.

When reviewing the TA Applications Submitted for any course:

What if a TA within their Job Security Period (JSP) does not, or is not able to, apply before the deadline?

Graduate students within their JSP have been guaranteed specific work assignment(s) in their Offer of Admission (i.e., the Graduate Student Guaranteed Income/Funding Form).  To be considered for fulfillment of a secured position(s), they must apply to at least one posting in the semester in which they will be assigned a secured position, and indicate they are in LoC 1.  The graduate funding form for students indicates they must apply online or they will not be given their JSP.  Messaging to TAs is key.
