Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content:
This candidate will work closely under the course instructor to plan, develop and implement tutorials, assignment questions and solutions, exam questions, and office hours. This candidate will assist the course instructor with the management and organization of the course and the managements of the course’s GTAs, including assigning and supervising work for those GTAs.
The candidate will be required to train and supervise GTAs in the lab and to train and supervise GTAs in the tutorials.
This candidate may be asked to moderate a live-chat in the classroom and may deliver occasional lectures.
The successful candidate must have:
• Successfully completed this course or similar with grade of at least B
• Successfully completed ENGG*3450 or a similar course with grades of at least B
• Successfully completed MATH*2270 or a similar course with grades of at least B
• Successfully completed ENGG*2400 or a similar course with grades of at least B
• Experience working in a lab similar to that in this course
o Equipment includes breadboards, DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, and op-amps.
o Concepts include first and second order circuits, integral circuits, transient and AC behaviour behaviour, Thevanin and Norton equivalent circuits, and non-ideal op-amp behaviour (e.g., clipping)
• Strong experience and background in circuit analysis using frequency domain (Laplace) techniques.
• Obtained, or be working towards obtaining, a PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, systems engineering, or related engineering.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• An enthusiastic and professional attitude towards teaching
• Completed up-to-date Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training
Preference will be given to those candidates who have
• Prior experience as an instructor, TA or Peer helper with this or a similar course.
• High evaluations from students for their prior instructor or TA roles
• Proven experience with pedagogically sound teaching techniques
