This course features supervised clinical practice in couple and family therapy. It involves a 3 hour clinical seminar, and regular supervision of clinical work with couples, families, and individuals. Students meet with faculty each week for up to six hours of supervision. Supervision over the semester will involve both group and individual/dyadic meetings.

Other Duties Described: 
(1) Teaching a 3 hour clinical seminar, providing supervision (involves being onsite at least 3 half days per week)and being available by phone for periodic on-call responsibilities. (2) Preparation and delivery of the course material in an organized and effective matter. (3) Effective and professional communication. (4) Providing feedback to clinical documentation and practice for all supervised clients at designated intervals. (5) Attend 1 to 3 curriculum meetings and supervisory consultation meetings with Centre faculty and staff. (6) Office hours when needed and regular student email consultation. (7) Accurate, consistent and timely grading within a 2 week period. The use of a grading rubric is strongly recommended. (8) Timely and accurate submission of final grades as per department deadline. (9) Facilitate student course evaluations. (10) Consult with the CFT Academic Program Director to ensure that course design and delivery adheres to the accreditation standards set by AAMFT. (11) Consult with the Director of Clinical Training around all client and supervision issues. (12) Provide the Chair of the Department and the CFT Academic Program Director with an updated course outline at the earliest convenience and no later than one week before the start of classes. (13) Obtain approval from Chair of the Department and the CFT Academic Program Director for any significant changes to the course outline, including but not limited to a change in textbook or assessment strategies. (14) Complete Accessible Service Provision, Making Education Accessible and Environmental Health and Safety online courses, if not previously completed. (15) Following the end of the semester, as per Article 14.10(a) in the CUPE 3913 Unit 2 Collective Agreement, you may also be requested to perform work as outlined therein. Reimbursement will be paid in accordance with Schedule "B" of the Collective Agreement upon submission of the extra hours and dates worked to the Department Chair, provided the Department Chair and Sessional previously agreed to the specific work/hours/dates.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Degree: 
Masters related to field
Regulated Health Professional or Social Worker with access to the controlled act of psychotherapy and meets the CRPO Supervision standards.Current or recent AAMFT Clinical Fellow & Approved Supervisor or equivalent.
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
APPLICANTS MUST INCLUDE A COVER LETTER WITH A DETAILED EXPLANATION OF EACH REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATION IN ADDITION TO THEIR CV. You are required to demonstrate: (1) Competence in teaching at the post-secondary level. This can be done through the submission of materials such as reference letter(s) from supervisor(s), direct feedback from students and teaching dossiers. (2) Recent engagement with (a) clinical experience (b) providing clinical supervision to beginning student-therapists. (c) knowledge of theories and models of couple and family therapy, including (i) collaborative language systems, (ii) family systems theory (iii) constructionist approaches, as evidenced by active research and/or professional engagement in the field. (3) Strong (a) written (b) verbal and (c) online communication skills.

PhD related to field
Registered Psychotherapist meeting CRPO Supervision Standards
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Many years of successful teaching related to contents of the course.
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
(1) Knowledge of current research evidence supporting the Couple & Family Therapy Models included in this course (as listed above).
Days Required and Wages
Days and Times Required: 
Instructing a 3 hour clinical seminar on Mondays from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Providing supervision which involves being onsite at least 3 half days per week, exact days to be determined. Some evenings on-call, to be negotiated with the Director of Clinical Training.
Period of the Work Agreement (Start Date and End Date): 
January 3, 2019 to April 29, 2019
Wages (per semester, per full-load): 
minimum $7,374.95 (effective 2018/19)
