This course will include the socio-cultural context, theoretical location, and conceptual and practical implications for couple and family therapy. This topic is on specific clinical issues pertinent to therapy with children and youth in families.

Other Duties Described: 
(1) Preparation and delivery of the course material in an organized and effective matter. (2) Effective and professional communication. (3) Office hours when needed and regular student email consultation. (4) Accurate, consistent and timely grading within a 2 week period. The use of a grading rubric is strongly recommended. (5) Creation and maintenance of the Courselink site, including discussion board monitoring where appropriate. (6)Timely and accurate submission of final grades as per department deadline. (7) Facilitate student course evaluations. (8) Consult with the CFT Academic Program Director to ensure that course design and delivery adheres to the accreditation standards set by AAMFT. (9) Provide the Chair of the Department and the CFT Academic Program Director with an updated course outline at the earliest convenience and no later than one week before the start of classes. (10) Obtain approval from the Chair of the Department and the CFT Academic Program Director for any significant changes to the course outline, including but not limited to a change in textbook or assessment strategies. (11) Complete Accessible Service Provision, Making Education Accessible and Environmental Health and Safety online courses, if not previously completed. (12) Following the end of the semester, as per Article 14.10(a) in the CUPE 3913 Unit 2 Collective Agreement, you may also be requested to perform work as outlined therein. Reimbursement will be paid in accordance with Schedule "B" of the Collective Agreement upon submission of the extra hours and dates worked to the Department Chair, provided the Department Chair and Sessional previously agreed to the specific work/hours/dates.

Masters in Couple & Family Therapy or related field. Member of CRPO, approved & experienced clinical supervisor. Regulated Health Professional or Social Work. with access to Controlled Act of Psychotherapy. Current or recent AAMFT Clinical Fellow or equiv

Substantial experience teaching relevant courses.
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
APPLICANTS MUST INCLUDE A COVER LETTER WITH A DETAILED EXPLANATION OF EACH REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATION IN ADDITION TO THEIR CV. You are required to demonstrate: (1) Competence in teaching at the post-secondary level. This can be done through the submission of reference letter(s) from supervisor(s), direct feedback from students and teaching dossiers. (2) Recent engagement with theories and models of couple and family therapy including (i) family systems theory (ii) intergenerational models (iii) constructionist approaches, as evidenced by active research and/or professional engagement in the field. (3) Strong (a) written (b) verbal and (c) online communication skills.

Many years of successful teaching related to contents of the course.
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
(1) Preference will be given to a candidate with academic and/or practical experience in post-modern therapy models, particularly narrative therapy or emotionally focused couples therapy.
