Learners explore major concepts and theories in social gerontology and begin to apply them to case situations, discussing their implications for practice. Taught from an empowerment perspective, the content of this course is intended to cause course participants to begin to challenge on knowledge and ethical grounds their own assumptions as well as common practices in this field. Related experience in social work or related discipline.

Research Experience: 
Quality and or Recent Research activity in related field demonstrating knowledge of current developments in course content.

Preference will be given to a candidate with academic experience in theoretical approaches and concepts in the course topic; Strong familiarity with current research findings, and issues of Social Gerontology. Demonstrated teaching excellence (e.g. course evaluations, reference letters, student feedback, etc.)

Section DE01: This is a distance education course offering. As such, significant online monitoring, supervision and feedback related to student learning activities is required.
