Students will choose a practicum in an area of interest in the field of Early Childhood Studies. This allows for an in-depth experience independently planning, implementing and evaluating curriculum for children and/or their families in collaboration with other professionals. Other Duties Described: 
Instructor may be required to participate in course website training. - Field visits - Students will choose a placement in an area of interest in the field of Early Childhood Services. This allows for an in-depth experience independently planning, implementing and evaluating programs for children and/or their families in collaboration with other professionals. In doing so, students will transform the course from an intellectual experience to an experience of human relationships. Students will be involved in various aspects of the placement agency to understand the role that the centre or agency fulfills in the broader community of supports. Through verbal and written reflective practice and the completion of their professional portfolios, students will consolidate and evaluate their competencies. This is a full appointment consisting of: Weekly instruction: Supervision of Students in Field Placement During Terms · Conduct on-site visits at agencies for all students during both terms, meeting with both the students and agency field supervising teachers · Work with students and agency field supervisors around issues of concern to develop strategies addressing concerns · Liaise in an on-going manner with agencies (email and phone) · Complete 15 minute de-briefing meetings with all students in December • Conduct seminar class, adhering to the respective course outline • Facilitate students’ completion of evaluation strategies • Review and grade student submissions of the evaluation components as indicated in respective course outlines • Meet with students during office hours on a scheduled or impromptu basis • Calculate and submit final grades

Masters related to field
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Experience working with children and families; Experience with children with special needs

Academic/theoretical and practical experience supervising students in their field placements; Strong familiarity with current research findings related to experiential learning and past experience providing clinical feedback to practicum students; Previous coordination of community placement experience is preferred.
