Prior teaching and research experience in areas relevant to this course. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Demonstrated organizational ability. This course will familiarize students with tools for the computational acquisition and analysis of molecular biological data. Key software for gene expression analyses, biological sequence analysis, and data acquisition and management will be presented. Laboratory exercises will guide students through application of relevant tools. This course provides an overview of bioinformatics tools and databases. Students learn how to use these tools and databases to address research questions. Students review R programming with a focus on Bioconductor and the graphical display of large data. Candidates should have familiarity with bioinformatics software tools, applications, and data repositories. Candidates should also have familiarity with R and bioconductor programming, statistical analyses, and data visualization.
