Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program in an area of synthetic chemistry (Organic, Inorganic, Main Group) and have: a) minimum one year of research experience conducting synthetic experiments; b) excellent Spectroscopy skills (NMR, ATR_FTIR, GC, GC-MS, UV-VIS, Polarimetry); c) excellent laboratory, hazardous waste management and housekeeping skills; d) solid knowledge of the chemical literature; e) experience with pyrophoric reagents, toxic gases, toxic/corrosive gases, photochemical reactor, microwave reactor, Schlenk lines, inert atmosphere techniques, inert atmosphere glove box; f) completed a B.Sc. degree in chemistry; g) experience demonstrating first year chemistry laboratories (Chem 1040 and/or Chem 1050 or equivalent at another University); h) completed the required safety courses. Lab Safety Training (EHS), WHMIS Training (EHS), Worker Health & Safety Awareness (EHS), Accessible Service Provision (CourseLink), Making Education Accessible (CourseLink). Must complete additional safety training as required.
Selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with Article 11.04 of the CUPE 3913-1 collective agreement. Assignments to particular courses will be made in accordance with departmental needs and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. Candidate in Synthetic Chemistry.
