Other Duties Described: 
-Conducting online and/or in-person writing consultations with students in a variety of disciplines -Conducting writing consultations with students, including those who have English as an additional language (EAL), in a variety of disciplines -Conducting English language consultations with EAL students on language skills such as reading, listening, and speaking -Participating in the development and presentation of EAL programming, as required -Assisting in promoting the Library's EAL programming and assistance, as required (making in-class announcements, liaising with instructors and faculty) -Participating in unit projects/tasks, as required -Assisting with administrative duties, as required -Attending training sessions and meetings, as required
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
As part of your application, please submit the following: 1. A cover letter as a demonstration of your writing skills (please include in your application). The cover letter must describe how you meet the required qualifications. 2. Your resume or CV 3. A short sample (5-10 pages) of your academic writing, unpublished and not professionally edited. 4. A list of your references who may be able to speak about your ability to work with students on their writing and/or language skills. 5. A grammar assessment and responses to written questions. Information on how to complete this assessment will be emailed to you once you have applied. Required qualifications: -Exemplary writing and communication skills -Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism -Extensive experience facilitating online writing consultations -Extensive training and/or experience in supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) -Experience evaluating students' writing (at least 3 GTA or sessional positions which involved providing comments on written assignments, or equivalent other experience) -Experience working one-on-one with students on their writing (at least 2 GTA or sessional positions which involved conferencing with students about their writing, or equivalent other experience) -Experience presenting in front of groups (at least 1 GTA or sessional position which involved teaching seminars or lectures, or equivalent other experience)
Preferred Qualifications: 
-Registration in semester 2 or higher of a PhD program at the University of Guelph -Experience teaching writing in a writing centre environment -Experience working or studying in more than one academic discipline
Days Required and Wages
Days and Times Required: 
-Must be available for online consultation training -Hours are scheduled weekdays between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with the possibility of some evening work -Hours are scheduled in 3-hour shifts -To allow for flexibility in scheduling, we ask that applicants have availability on at least 3 different days of the week

GSA $42.52/hr; $5954.98/semester effective 2019/20
