Description

Nestor Kruger uses various functions in computer software to both attenuate the idiosyncratic marks that connect the artist to the work and as a way to uncover new qualities. He incorporates actions such as mirroring, duplication, simulation and repetition; common operations native to a digital environment but also as patterns found in daily life for the production of images and forms. He applies these methods to found text and objects and as in situ explorations of the exhibition space as a way to explore how the copy can create both a sense of the familiar with a feeling of uncertainty.

He has participated in a number of local and international exhibitions including Emotion Eins at the Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt, Germany; Emotion Pictures at Muhka in Antwerp, Belgium; Sharjah Biennial 7, Sharjah, UAE; The Greenroom, CCS Bard, NY, IAPSIS in Stockholm, Sweden and has had solo exhibitions at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, USA; and in Canada at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery in Ottawa, The Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver and Optica in Montreal among others. Kruger has also produced a number of public and private commissions in Toronto. He is represented by goodwater gallery in Toronto. He currently teaches in Digital Media and Sculpture.
