Construction Begins on New Arboretum Pedestrian Promenade

Renovations to turn Arboretum Road into a pedestrian promenade begin July 23.

The paved road at the entrance will be removed and will become a promenade for pedestrians and cyclists only.

As part of the project, a new entrance will be constructed off College Avenue. Once the new entrance is built, Arboretum Road will be closed to vehicles.

“Creating a pedestrian promenade follows up on the Arboretum master plan’s recommendation to incorporate an even greater emphasis on walking and cycling by closing Arboretum Road to vehicles and creating a 'green' core,” said Prof. Alan Watson, Arboretum director.

The project is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of September.
