U of G releases salary disclosure information

The University of Guelph today issued the list of its employees who were paid $100,000 or more in 2001, in accordance with the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act.

The list contains the names of 93 people at U of G including senior administrators, deans and professors. Ninety-one per cent of those on the list are faculty or academic administrators with faculty rank.

With some 2,500 full-time faculty and staff and an annual budget of approximately $400 million the University is the largest public-sector employer in Guelph and Wellington County. It is estimated that the University generates about $673 million annually in local economic activity, representing about 15 per cent of the local economy. There are approximately 15,000 full- and part-time students registered at University of Guelph.

In addition, when compared to other Ontario universities, U of G spends among the smallest share of its budget -- 2.9 per cent -- on administration. Guelph is the second most research intensive university in Canada, the first among non-medical schools, with total research funding in excess of $100 million in 2001.

The salary list is available at the reserve desk of the McLaughlin Library and in Communications and Public Affairs, Level 4, University Centre. It will also be available through the Government of Ontario Website: http://www.gov.on.ca
