The University of Guelph has announced membership of the Presidential Selection Committee that will conduct a search for the University's next president and make a recommendation to the Board of Governors.

The committee comprises three faculty, two students and one staff member, elected by the University's Senate, and three external members from the Board of Governors.

Committee members elected by Senate are: Iain Campbell, Department of Physics and former University provost and vice-president (academic); Ian Duncan, Department of Animal and Poultry Science; Elizabeth Ewan, Department of History; Kendra Holliday, fourth-year student in the Bachelor of Commerce Program; Matt Routley, doctoral student in the Department of Botany; and Tracey Alberico, senior advisor in Employee Relations, Human Resources Department. Committee members selected by the Board of Governors are: Rita Burak, vice-chair of the Board; Douglas Derry, vice-chair of the Board; and Michael Walsh, chair designate of the Board. Dr. Walsh, a U of G alumnus, will chair the Presidential Selection Committee.

Under the University of Guelph Act, the Board of Governors is ultimately responsible for appointing a president. Simon Cooper, outgoing Chair of the Board, has asked that a successor be in place by the late summer of 2003, at the end of Dr. Rozanski's term.
