University of Guelph to celebrate Homecoming 1999

University of Guelph students, alumni and the campus community will celebrate Homecoming 1999 September 24 and 25 on the U of G campus. Highlights of events include:

Friday, Sept. 24

6:30 p.m.

-- The annual Gryphon Club Hall of Fame dinner will be held at the Arboretum. Norm Jary, former Guelph Mayor and CJOY Radio news director, will receive an Award of Merit. Jary is a former NHL broadcaster and is a longtime member of the Guelph City Council. In addition, Paul Williams, Gladys Williams, Bob Pronk, Mark Brown and David Guest will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame. The 1974 Mens' Rugby OUAA squad will also receive the Championship Team Recognition.

Saturday, Sept. 25

10 a.m.

-- The 21st annual Alumni Relay Swim meet will be held at 10 a.m. at the Gold Pool in the WF Mitchell Centre. Five past Olympians and other Gryphon swimming alumni will attend. The event is free and open to the public.

2 p.m.

-- The Guelph Gryphons football team will play the University of Toronto Blues at the homecoming football game at Alumni Stadium.

5:30 p.m.

-- Alumni, former faculty and staff, and the University community, friends and partners of the Ontario Agricultural College will attend the OAC 125 Heritage Banquet and Ball, the premier social event of OAC's celebratory year. For ticket information contact Carla Bradshaw at 824-4120, Ext. 6657.
