U of G holds 'Last Lecture' for graduating students

The University of Guelph is hosting a "Last Lecture" April 1 to give graduating students an opportunity to reflect on their experiences at Guelph.

The second annual event will be held at 6 p.m. in War Memorial Hall and will include speeches by a faculty member, an alumnus and a graduating student. The Last Lecture is designed to bring closure to the time students have spent at U of G and to celebrate their accomplishments inside and outside the classroom.

"Graduating students have been encouraged to invite a faculty member who has contributed to their academic and personal growth to attend and share this special evening," said Chantal Joy, Student Life and Career Services.

Students invited president Mordechai Rozanski to deliver the faculty lecture. Sue-Ann Staff, an award-winning winemaker and 1994 Bachelor of Agricultural Science graduate will deliver the alumnus lecture; and Kristin Roe, who is receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree this year, was chosen by a selection committee to give the student lecture.

A reception will follow the event and members of the University community will be present to extend their best wishes.
