Campus to celebrate

Maclean’s has again ranked U of G as Canada’s No. 1 comprehensive university and it’s time to celebrate!

The Central Student Association (CSA) and president Alastair Summerlee invite students, faculty and staff to drop by the Bullring Thursday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon for a free coffee or tea.

Derek Husser, the CSA’s communications commissioner, and Summerlee will make brief remarks at 10 a.m. “We want students to come out and recognize their university’s achievement,” Husser says. “We’re also excited about the prospect of showing off the newly renovated Bullring coffee shop. It’s a great addition to the campus.” Summerlee adds: “This is a wonderful way for the community to come together. I thank the CSA for hosting this celebration and showcasing the Bullring.”

The CSA will be accepting donations to the Guelph Food Bank as part of the celebration. Bins will be available in the Bullring that day to accept gifts of non-perishable food items.

"We all recognize the achievement of being number one in Maclean's, and a part of what makes the University of Guelph great is the sense of responsibility towards addressing complex social issues,” says Andrew Langille, CSA local affairs commissioner. “That’s why we have taken this opportunity to assist the Guelph Food Bank in acquiring food for people living in poverty in Guelph.”
