Special Senate session to discuss task force interim report

The Presidential Task Force on Accessibility to University Education has completed an interim report that is available online for review and comment.

The University community is invited to attend an informal session of Senate March 2 to participate in a discussion of the interim report. The meeting runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Room 113 of the MacNaughton Building. Admission tickets are available from the Senate Office on Level 4 of the University Centre or by calling Ext. 56760.

The Presidential Task Force on Accessibility to University Education was struck by president Alastair Summerlee this fall to examine the various financial, social and academic issues that affect accessibility to higher education both at U of G and systemwide. The task force has a mandate to make recommendations for the University to consider as part of a strategic plan to improve accessibility.

The interim report is based on a literature review conducted by the task force in the fall semester. Comments regarding the report should be sent to the task force, care of the Office of the Provost, provost@uoguelph.ca.
