Guelph community picnic planned

Well, the hot and hazy days of summer are finally here…

And once again, it is time for another fabulous Guelph Community BBQ, 1999 edition. This year, the event will take place on Thursday, July 8th on the main campus of the University of Guelph.

The Central Student Association is proud to once again sponsor this celebrated event, where groups and individuals such as yourselves gain an opportunity to meet and form friendships with other members of the Guelph community, as well as students, staff, faculty and administrative officers from the University. This is the 26th year of this great tradition. This year, as always, there will be live entertainment, vendors, games and events for people of all ages, and, of course, our favourite BBQ foods.

The festivities will commence at roughly 4pm and extend until late in the evening. As in past years, there will be separate sections focussing on children activities such as crafts, finger painting and carnival games, adult activities including team events and beach volleyball, several local bands, an ever-popular dunk tank featuring local luminaries and a licensed patio at the beautiful Bullring pub. Most of the activities will occur on the University campus, between the main Library building and the University Centre.

Foods offered at the BBQ include a variety of complete meals, which include a salad, dessert and drink. The prices for the meals range from $2.25 for a kid's hot dog/veggie dog meal to $8.50 for the famous Hip 'o Beef feast. Other treats include favourites like cotton candy, ice cream and finger foods. In addition, the Guelph Community BBQ '99 will also feature a resource fair involving University and community-based organizations from across the greater Guelph region.

While the Central Student Association is wholly committed to the success of the Guelph Community BBQ '99, this event is only made possible through the willingness of community members to volunteer their valuable time and/or make monetary/gift contributions. If you wish to volunteer some time on the 8th of July, either during the all-day setup or between 4pm and 11pm with one of the various sections, please contact Frank Le at (519) 824-4120 ext. 6742.

It is our sincere hope that you take this opportunity to fully indulge in everything that the Guelph Community BBQ '99 has to offer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Central Student Association main office at (519) 824-4120 ext. 6748.
