SARS prompts questions

The University is receiving inquiries from the community about Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The University and public health are continuing to closely monitor the situation and will post updates as appropriate on this Web site.

As a precaution, Student Health Services, like other medical clinics and hospitals in the region, has posted notices about SARS on its entrance and is taking other routine precautions.

The U of G student whose family member is being monitored for SARS is healthy and is not presenting any signs or symptoms of any respiratory problems. The student remains at home in Toronto with other family members, who are also not presenting any symptoms.

Members of the University community who have questions may contact either Student Health Services at Ext. 54333, or in the case of faculty and staff, Occupational Health Services at Ext. 52133.

Information on SARS is also available on the Health Canada website or by calling Telehealth Ontario at 1-800-454-8302.
