U of G names acting provost and VP (academic), associate VP (academic)

University of Guelph president Mordechai Rozanski and in-coming president Alastair Summerlee have announced that Maureen Mancuso will serve as acting provost and vice-president (academic) and Jill McCutcheon will serve as acting associate vice-president (academic).

Mancuso's appointment, effective July 15, 2003, has been approved by the Board of Governors and will continue until the selection process for the new provost and vice-president (academic) has been completed. For the last three years, Mancuso has been associate vice-president (academic), chair of the Enrolment Co-ordinating Committee, and involved in several important aspects of planning for the coming double cohort. She has also been the University's representative as academic colleague to the Council of Ontario Universities. A former chair of the department of political science, she continues her academic activities as a highly regarded teacher and scholar, roles that she will maintain as she takes on her new responsibilities.

McCutcheon has served for the past eight years as assistant dean, academic affairs, in the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC). She has also been chair of the Board of Undergraduate Studies and the Executive Committee of Senate. During her secondment, she will continue her role as co-ordinator of planning for infrastructure redevelopment in OVC and will oversee the implementation of the new fourth-year curriculum of the DVM program.
