Former head of UN peacekeeping force to speak at U of G
The former head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda will speak at the University of Guelph Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in War Memorial Hall.

Dallaire, an Officer of the Order of Canada, is acclaimed for trying to stop the 1994 Rwandan genocide that saw an estimated 800,000 people killed between April and June of 1994. His efforts earned him the 2002 Aegis Award on Genocide Prevention from the United Kingdom. He has written a book about his experiences, Shake Hands with the Devil: the Failure of Humanity in Rwanda, which is due to be released in November.
Advance tickets are available at the University’s Human Rights and Equity Office, 15 University Ave. E. Tickets will also be available at the door. The cost is $7 for the general public and $5 for university students and seniors. High school students and the unwaged will be admitted free of charge.
