AIDS worker, prof to take part in human rights discussion

A Cambodian medical expert and a University of Guelph psychology professor will give a presentation on the rise of HIV and AIDS in Cambodia Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at the University of Guelph.

The talk by professor Ian Lubek and Dr. Sarath Kros from the Provincial AIDS Office in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is part of the Human Rights Discussion Group series. It will be held in Rozanski Hall Room 104.

Lubek and Kros’ presentation will focus on the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among women working in the beer sale industry in Cambodia. They will discuss how the problem was brought to light and how community-based action is improving the situation.

Advance tickets are available at the University Centre’s information desk or at the Human Rights and Equity Office, 15 University Ave. E. Tickets will also be available at the door. The cost is $5 for the general public and $2 for students and seniors. The unwaged will be admitted free of charge.
