Campus Bulletin

August 11, 2004

Roadway, parking lot updates

Note: This bulletin was updated Sept. 29.

Improvements being made to several campus parking lots and roadways will affect vehicle access for the next several weeks.

Parking lots P8 (located between Mountain and Prairie halls), P9 (between Prairie and Maritime halls) and P11 (at the corner of South Ring and East Ring roads) are closed until mid-October. P8 is being expanded and turned into a visitors’ parking lot. In P11, new spaces are being added for annual permit holders, and the entrance is being relocated to relieve traffic congestion on South Ring Road. P9 is being expanded. New lighting is also being installed in all three lots.

In the interim, people are encouraged to park in P13, located east of Maritime Hall, and P14 and P15 near Alumni House.

Ongoing construction and improvements will also be affecting other roadways and parking lots on campus over the next several weeks.

Access to a portion of Powerhouse Lane is also limited due to ongoing construction, and lot P49 (across from Alumni Stadium) will be closed until Fall 2004. During this period, people are encouraged to park in lots P19 (west of the Cutten Club) and P7 (east of Alumni Stadium).

Fencing has been installed on Gordon Street in consultation with the City of Guelph Public Works Department to support the Reynolds Walk crosswalk relocation. To facilitate the demolition of the Chemistry and Microbiology Building and new construction on phase two of the Science Complex, Reynolds Walk at Gordon is the main access point for heavy construction vehicles. The fence was installed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and will be removed when phase two of the Science Complex is complete during the summer of 2007.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to Parking Services at Ext. 52118.
