Sarah Baert

M.Sc. (Thesis) student

I am a 2018 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) and have always maintained a strong curiosity in the field of animal welfare and behaviour. During veterinary school, I was the Co-President of the OVC Animal Welfare Club, and in May-July of 2016, I travelled to Central America to assist with spay-neuter and wellness campaigns for both stray and pet dogs and cats.

After graduation, I worked for 8 months in small animal emergency and primary care practice, during which I developed interests in patient stress reduction and pain management.  My Master’s thesis project explores possible methods of improving the welfare of beef cattle during long-distance transportation; however, I am invested in furthering my expertise in the welfare and behaviour principles of all species.
