The NEW Manager Orientation is designed to welcome and connect new people managers to their roles and the university environment. This one-day orientation gives you the essential foundation you need to step into your new management role with confidence—clarifying expectations, building key relationships, accessing important resources, and aligning with institutional priorities.
Various representatives from across U of G will share perspectives and important information that will provide new managers with knowledge to:

Navigate the university effectively as a new people leader.

Access key resources and supports for success in the role.

Understand core managerial responsibilities.

Build connections with peer leaders and gain exposure to senior leadership.

Establish a foundation for creating a personalized new-manager development plan.
Save the date for a 2-hour follow-up session with this cohort on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Who is this for?
This orientation is for new managers, including those who are new to U of G and employees entering a supervisory role. Managers should have at least one direct report for whom they are operationally responsible.

Refreshments
Coffee/tea in the morning and a light lunch of sandwiches and salad will be included. Please bring snacks if you desire.
