Coordination of Benefits Change

This communication is relevant to staff and faculty who have coverage under the University of Guelph employee extended health and dental care benefit plans.

Effective February 1, 2016, Sun Life's new administrative change impacting the adjudication of coordination of benefits claims will take effect.  Coordination of benefits refers to a process where claims are paid through more than one benefit plan.  

Sun Life's administrative change may affect you if you submit claims for your dependents (spouse/partner/children) through your spouse/partner's benefit plan prior to submitting to your plan.  This change may impact claims incurred on or after the effective date.
