Institutions and social justice focus of U of G conference

The University of Guelph and the College of Arts are hosting a conference called “Institutions and Social Justice” March 19 and 20 at the Macdonald Stewart Art Gallery.

Several aspects of social justice will be explored, including medical institutions, universities, the law and feminist thought.

The keynote speaker is University of Toronto philosophy professor Frank Cunningham. Cunningham is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and has published several articles and books on democratic theory, including The Real World of Democracy Revisited and Theories of Democracy: A Critical Introduction. He will present “Universities and Social Justice” March 19 at 7:30 p.m.

A dozen scholars from Canadian universities will take part in four other sessions. The conference itinerary is available online at
