The University of Guelph will welcome two new deans to campus this fall and in early 2018.
Mary Wells
Mary Wells begins a five-year term Nov. 1 as dean of the newly renamed College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
Wells is associate dean of outreach and a professor in mechanical and mechatronics engineering at the University of Waterloo. She chairs the Ontario Network of Women in Engineering, and is a sought-after expert and international speaker on women in engineering and science.
Samantha Brennan
Samantha Brennan will become dean of the College of Arts for a five-year term beginning Jan. 1.
Brennan is a professor of women’s studies and feminist research at Western University. She served as chair of Western’s Department of Philosophy for eight years and was a founding member of the Rotman Institute of Philosophy. She is a prolific blogger on feminist issues and an advocate for the public humanities.
