61-217 The Roman Epic Tradition W(3-0)

A study of epic poetry at Rome, emphasizing Virgil's heroic Aeneid but including readings from other epics such as Lucan's Pharsalia and Valerius Flaccus' Argonautica. (Offered in odd-numbered years.).

Prerequisites: 61-200.
