Mathematics

Department of Mathematics and Statistics, College of Physical & Engineering Science.

Students wishing to enter an honours program in mathematics should consult with an advisor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. A grade of 70% in the mathematics courses of semester 1 and 2 is normally required for admission to semester 3 of the program in Honours Mathematics and the major in Mathematics.

*Two 400 level mathematics courses.

*A mathematics major must include 4 or more 400 level courses in mathematics (which may include statistics 89-434) and must include at least twelve 300 or 400 level courses from the program committee approved list of science electives.

Minor

A minor will consist of at least 10 mathematics courses chosen in consultation with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics with not more than 3 at the 100-level and including at least 3 mathematics courses at the 300 level or above.
