Department of Economics, College of Social Science
The Department of Economics offers courses in economic theory, applied economics and quantitative methods. Students may take courses leading to a B.A. in either the honours or the general program. It is possible to combine Economics with various other disciplines such as mathematics and statistics, business administration, political studies, geography and history. Students are urged to consult the department's program planning guide and the department's advisors for detailed information about courses and programs and about the course of study most appropriate as preparation for graduate work in economics or business administration, for professional degrees such as the Bachelor's degree in Law, and for careers in business and government.
NOTE Students specializing in Economics who fail an Economics course twice will not be permitted to continue in the Economics program.

NOTE: Students contemplating graduate studies in Economics should take 36-474 Econometrics I and 36-484 Econometrics II.
* Requires a first year university calculus course.
NOTE: 36-374 Introduction to Econometrics is recommended.
NOTE: Students wishing to pursue a more structured Economics minor should take 36-371 Advanced Microeconomics as well as 36-374.
NOTE: In this program credit may be obtained in only 1 of 36-220 or 36-320. 36-480 may not be counted as a 400 level course for purposes of satisfying the minimum 400 level course requirements in the B.A. Honours Economics major or the B.A. Honours Management Economics programs. Only 1 of 36-490/36-491 may count as 1 of the required minimum number of 400 level economics courses in the B.A. program.
