Agricultural Buildings Systems Bursary

The Ontario Region of the Canadian Farm Builders Association has made available 2 bursaries. Applicants must demonstrate financial need that diminishes personal involvement in the program, and independent interest in agricultural buildings systems. Apply to the School of Engineering before September 1st for Fall and January 1st for Winter. [I0000]

Qualification(s): Students enrolled full-time, who have completed semester 2 in either the Agricultural Engineering major of the B.Sc.(Eng.) or the Associate Diploma in Agriculture programs.

Amount: One award of $1,000

Alma Mater B.Sc. Scholarships

Awarded in the Fall semester to students who have completed 6 semester levels (15.0 course credit minimum) of an honours B.Sc. program in the College of Biological Science and in the College of Physical and Engineering Science; eight scholarships will be awarded to students in each College. Consideration may be given to the actual courses taken in the case of students with widely differing programs. Application not required. [I0011]

Qualification(s): Selection of recipients will be based upon the cumulative average obtained during the first 6 semester levels.

Association of Professional Engineers Medal

Qualification(s): Graduate of an accredited engineering program, obtaining the highest average in the practical work and written examinations of the year.

Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario Scholarships

Apply to the Chair of the Awards Committee, School of Engineering, by March 31. [I0018]

Qualification(s): Students in their 2nd and 3rd years of an accredited engineering program. One award is given for high academic standing and the other for a combination of academic excellence and demonstrated leadership qualities.

Amount: Two awards of $600

Babcock and Wilcox Design Award

This award is available to facilitate extramural, independent participation in Ontario and National engineering competitions. Apply in writing to Chair, Awards Committee, School of Engineering by January 31. [I0350]

Amount: One award of $500

Canadian Federation of University Women/Guelph Scholarship

The Guelph Chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women provides this annual scholarship. Application not required. [I0294]

Qualification(s): Female student registered in semester 5 or 6 in the Fall semester in either B.Sc.(Eng.), B.A. (College of Physical and Engineering Science) or B.Sc. (College of Physical and Engineering Science) who has the highest cumulative average. Preference will be given to a student who has graduated from a secondary school in Wellington County.

Amount: One award of $2,000

College of Physical and Engineering Science Academic Scholarship

Qualification(s): Offered in the Winter semester to students who have completed at least 6 semesters of a College of Physical and Engineering Science program and have excellent grades but have not received awards recently.

Semester(s): 6, 7

Amount: Two awards of $100

College of Physical and Engineering Science Alumni Association Scholarships

Scholarships available to Canadian students for one semester are awarded in the Fall semester to students who have completed semester 4 in the previous Fall, Winter or Summer semesters and are enrolled in semester 5 or higher of a College of Physical and Engineering Science program. Qualification(s): Recipients will be selected on the basis of a high average in courses normally taken in the 3rd and 4th semesters. Students must have been registered in at least [5.00] credits and a minimum 80% average is required.

Amount: Two awards of tuition for one semester

College of Physical and Engineering Science Graduation Prize

The winner will be selected in May from all students who have completed the program in the previous twelve months. Application not required. [C0075]

Qualification(s): Student graduating with the highest cumulative average from an honours B.Sc. program in a Physical and Engineering Science area.

Amount: One award of $250

College of Physical and Engineering Science Scholarship

Awarded in the Fall semester to a student who has completed semester 6 in the previous Fall, Winter or Summer semesters and who is enrolled in semester 7 or 8 of a College of Physical and Engineering Science program. Application not required. [I0076]

John Deere Scholarship

John Deere Ltd. provides this annual scholarship. Apply to Student Financial Services by April 1. [I0083]

Qualification(s): Student with an 80% average in semesters 5 and 6 of the Agricultural Engineering major who has best demonstrated leadership qualities and participation in extracurricular activities.

Knut Karl Grimstad Memorial Scholarships

Qualification(s): Outstanding students majoring in Water Resources Engineering. Scholarships are based on academic proficiency in semesters 5 and 6, and on participation in extracurricular activities associated especially with the profession of engineering.

Amount: Two awards of $600

E.B. MacNaughton Convocation Prize

Established by the College of Physical and Engineering Science to honour Earl B. MacNaughton, former head of the Department of Physics and founding Dean of the College of Physical Science. Application not required. [C0171]

Qualification(s): The College of Physical and Engineering Science nominee for the Winegard Medal.

Amount: One award of a gold medal and $250

O.A.C.'55 Scholarships

Provided by the class of O.A.C.'55. Apply to Student Financial Services by April 1. [I0064]

Qualification(s): Students who are registered in any O.A.C. degree program or students enrolled in the B.Sc.(Eng.) program and have completed semester 4. Recipients will have made an outstanding contribution to College life through academic proficiency and participation in extracurricular activities and can be considered to have done the most for the College, for fellow students and in their personal development. Recipients must have a 70% minimum cumulative average.

Amount: One award of $2,000

Taggart Scholarship in Biological Engineering

Qualification(s): Student who has completed semester 6 of Biological Engineering in the B.Sc.(Eng.) program. Academic standing and demonstration of leadership qualities will be used to select the recipient from eligible candidates.

Amount: One award of $600

Helen Grace Tucker Design Awards

Established by a bequest of Helen Grace Tucker, 65 Engineering, who was co-inventor of a number of patented sensor and control components and co-author of many international publications. Application not required. [C0365]

Qualification(s): Graduating student in each of the four engineering programs. The winners will be selected on the basis of best performance (at least 80%) in ENGG*2100, ENGG*3100 and the final design course.

In-course Access Awards - B.Sc.(Eng.)

Computing and Information Science Scholarships

Established by the friends and alumni of the College of Physical and Engineering Science, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program to encourage students with financial need to pursue graduate study in the Department of Computing and Information Science. Apply with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Awarded in the Winter semester. ACCESS AWARD [I4516]

Qualification(s): Students with demonstrated financial need, entering semester 7 or higher. Students must be registered in a major in Computing and Information Science with a minimum cumulative average of 75% and have submitted an application to the graduate program in that department. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards). Selection will be based on academic achievement.

Amount: Two awards of $850

C.P.E.S. Dean's Scholarship - ACCESS

Established by a number of industrial, commercial and public sector corporations, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Awarded in the Winter semester. This award may be held once only. ACCESS AWARD [I4527]

Qualification(s): Students with demonstrated financial need registered in any major program in C.P.E.S. in, or beyond, second year. A minimum 80% cumulative average is required. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Amount: One award of $750

C.P.E.S. Engineering Access Bursary

Established by the friends and alumni of the College of Physical and Engineering Science, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Awarded in the Winter semester. This award may be held more than once. ACCESS AWARD [I3527]

Qualification(s): Students with demonstrated financial need, registered in any of the engineering programs at or beyond the third semester level. A minimum 65% cumulative average is required. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Amount: One award of $750

Jay Majithia Scholarship

Provided to honour Professor Jay Majithia, in recognition of his support and leadership while a faculty member in the Department of Computing and Information Science, by Margaret Middleton, C.P.E.S.'86 with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply by letter stating research interest and involvement along with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Awarded in the Winter semester. ACCESS AWARD [I4518]

Qualification(s): Computer and Information Science students with demonstrated financial need registered in semester 3 or 7 and who have a minimum cumulative program average of 70%. The scholarship is available to students who are applying for, or participating in, departmental research, including a special project or an independent study option. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Amount: Two awards of $500

O.A.C.'55 Access Bursaries

Provided by the class of O.A.C.'55 with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Awarded in the Winter semester. ACCESS AWARD [I3517]

Qualification(s): Students at any semester level in an O.A.C. degree program or students enrolled in the B.Sc.(Eng.) program with demonstrated financial need and a 60% minimum cumulative average. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Amount: Up to eight awards of $500

In-course Bursaries - B.Sc.(Eng.)

Lindsay W. Christie Bursary

Made available by the family of Lindsay W. Christie. Apply by confidential letter to Chair, Awards Committee, School of Engineering by December 1. [T3004]

Qualification(s): Full-time students in the B.Sc.(Eng.) program with a demonstrated financial need that diminishes personal involvement in the program and/or participation in personal development through undergraduate conferences or congresses that entail expenses for travel and accommodation.

Amount: Varying amounts totalling $1,000

Credit Valley Conservation Authority Foundation Bursary

Apply with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Awarded in the Winter semester. [I3007]

Qualification(s): Full-time student registered in B.A. Geography, B.Sc. Geographic Information Systems and Environmental Analysis, B.Sc. Engineering (Water Resource Engineering), B.Sc. (Agr.) Agroecosystem Management or B.Sc.(Env.) Geography majors with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who resides in a member municipality of the Credit Valley Authority Foundation.

Amount: One award of $500
