Analytical Biochemistry Award

Tony Anthony Prize in Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy

Jack K. Barclay Physiology Scholarship

Established in honour of Professor J.K. Barclay, Director of the School of Human Biology from 1989-1991. He was the first chair of the Department of Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences from 1996-2001 and was involved in creating, teaching and implementing HK 3940 Human Physiology. Apply by February 1st to the Chair, Department of Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences, with a letter outlining leadership contributions to the University and the community. Kenneth James Berg Memorial Scholarship

Established by Friends and Family in memory of Ken Berg, a 1982 C.B.S. Microbiology alumnus. The focus of this award reflects Ken's success in applied education in the work force. Nomination by the Microbiology Co-op Program Committee. [I0370]

Blackburn Scholarship

In commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of the Ontario Agricultural College, Dr. D.J. Blackburn, a retired faculty member in Rural Extension Studies and former Director of the Associate Diploma Program has established this scholarship. Hugh Branion Memorial Scholarship

Canadian Federation of University Women/Guelph Scholarship

J. Ross Cavers International Exchange Scholarship

Applicants should submit a one-page type-written summary outlining their efforts to promote the disciplines of chemistry or biochemistry within the University, or the community to the Executive of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Club by February 1st. George I. Christie Scholarship

R.A. Fisher Statistics Scholarship

Gaskin Medal in Marine and Freshwater Biology

Selection by the College of Biological Science, on the recommendation of the departmental awards committee. The award recognizes a student who has contributed and provided leadership to the academic, administrative and social life of the department and the university, including academic activities (department/college committees, senate etc.), intramural and varsity athletics, support and assistance with class, college and university activities (such as HK/HB Symposium, College Royal etc.). Hurnik Award in Agricultural Ethics

Provided by Dr. Frank Hurnik, Professor Emeritus, and faculty member in Animal and Poultry Science from 1971 to 1997. Dr. Hurnik initiated work in behavioral studies and animal welfare at Guelph, developed the first course in Animal Welfare, and was co-founder and editor of the Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics. Qualification(s): O.A.C. undergraduate or graduate students who are associated with the department of Animal & Poultry Science and who undertake a project or attend a conference/scientific meeting or publish a paper in animal welfare or agricultural ethics may apply. The award will be given to the student who has the best presentation, paper or project.

Robert Orr Lawson Second Year Microbiology In-course Scholarship

Provided through a generous bequest from the estate of Robert Orr Lawson with matching support from the Department of Microbiology to encourage study and research related to microbiology of foods. The scholarship is paid over three years in installments of $1,000. The second and third payments are contingent upon obtaining a minimum average of 77% over the previous two semesters of continued study in the major. Students who fail to qualify for a payment may re-qualify for the subsequent payment by obtaining a 77% or better average in the succeeding two academic semesters of full-time study. Robert Orr Lawson Third Year Microbiology In-course Scholarship

Provided through a generous bequest from the estate of Robert Orr Lawson with matching support from the Department of Microbiology to encourage study and research related to microbiology of foods. Roderick Long International Travel Grant

Offered in memory of the late Roderick Long, O.A.C.'54. Up to eighty percent of the travel costs associate with the study outside of Canada program will be covered up to a maximum of $1,000 per student. Mary Beverley-Burton Travel Scholarships

Established by the Department of Zoology, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program in honour of Professor Mary Beverley-Burton, Department of Zoology (1968-95), whose research on monogenean worms took her all over the globe. This award is to assist students in attending field courses offered by the Department. Apply by letter with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by February 1. Graham, Fraser, and Trevor Bosch Scholarships in Chemistry and Biochemistry

Established by Mr. Martin Bosch of the Guelph Soap Company, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Students with high academic standing registered in Year 3 (minimum of 10.00 - 14.75 credits) or Year 4 (at least 15.00 credits) of studies will be notified by the Awards Committee and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and advised to complete a Need Assessment Form in Student Financial Services by February 1st. Qualification(s): Outstanding undergraduate students in the B.SC. Chemistry or Biochemistry majors, or in the B.SC.(Tech.) Applied Pharmaceutical Chemistry program, who have demonstrated financial need. The recipients with demonstrated financial need and preference will be given to Year 3 students with the highest cumulative averages in at least three 2000 level chemistry or biochemistry courses taken in Year 2. In the even that there are no qualified candidates in Year 3, students in Year 4 will be considered, based on demonstrated financial need and the highest cumulative averages in at least three 3000 level chemistry and biochemistry courses taken in Year 3. Established by the friends and alumni of the College of Physical and Engineering Science, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program to encourage students with financial need to pursue graduate study in the Department of Computing and Information Science. CPES Dean's Scholarship - ACCESS

Established by a number of industrial, commercial and public sector corporations, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Keith Ronald: Huntsman Summer Semester Bursary

Established by The Departments of Zoology and Botany, and the faculty and alumni of the College of Biological Science, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, to honour Professor Keith Ronald, who was Dean of the College of Biological Science from 1971 - 1983. Stephen Safe Scholarships in Toxicology

T.K. Warley Bursaries

Established by O.A.C. Alumni Association, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, to recognize Professor T.K. Warley's significant contribution to the O.A.C. Wellington Laboratories Scholarships

Wellington Laboratories, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, established this award through an endowment provided by Mr. Brock Chittim of Wellington Laboratories. Highly qualified students will be notified by the Chair of the Department and the Department Awards Committee to complete a Need Assessment Form and submit to Student Financial Services by February 1. Qualification(s): Students registered in semester 7 or 8 of an honours major program offered by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Student with demonstrated financial need and the highest cumulative averages in at least three 300 level chemistry or biochemistry courses taken in semesters 5 or 6. L. George and Margaret Baker Bursary

Robert Jack and M. Ismay Martin provide this bursary in memory of Ismay's parents, George and Margaret Baker in recognition of the contributions to society. Qualification(s): Students who resided in Canada prior to their initial registration at he University of Guelph and who are in semesters three or four of the Food Science program are eligible. The award will be given to the student with an interest in functional foods and secondarily, to those who come form a rural community with greatest financial need.

Credit Valley Conservation Authority Foundation Bursary

Qualification(s): Full-time student registered in B.A. Geography, B.SC. Geographic Information Systems and Environmental Analysis, B.SC.(Eng.) Water Resource Engineering, B.SC. (Agr.) Preference will be given to a student who resides in a member municipality of the Credit Valley Authority Foundation.

Gwen Karr Memorial Bursary

Margaret Rich Bursary

Established by the Jean Rich Foundation to assist students with an academic interest in animal nutrition. Qualification(s): Undergraduate Honours B.SC. students in any college, who have completed more than 10.00 credits may apply. The University Bursary Committee will use financial need assessment and satisfactory academic standing for continuation in the program of study to determine the recipient.

Archie and Isabelle (Cook) Rintoul Bursary
