Student Life, Learning Commons

The Learning Commons links together various services on campus in support of student learning, writing, and library research. Located on the main floor of the McLaughlin Library, The Learning Commons provides a common, convenient, and accessible location with extended hours of operation.

Learning Services provides support to undergraduate and graduate students concerned with improving their learning and enhancing their academic performance. Services include a range of programs, workshops, presentations, printed and on-line resources, and individual assistance.

The Supported Learning Group Program (SLGs) uses peer-led study sessions to enrich the learning experience of students enrolled in historically challenging courses including first year Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, and Psychology.

The Student Technology Consultant Program provides information, strategies, and advice to assist students to use technology more effectively in their learning, studying, writing and researching. Student Technology Consultants (STCs) work out of the Mutli-Media Lab on the first floor of the library.

Writing and ESL Services provides support to undergraduate and graduate students who wish to enhance their writing skills, as well as for those who are having difficulty writing critically and analytically, or whose first language is not English.
