Description

The CPRC Board identified three top priority categories among the CPRC Research Priorities for this call. Specific priority areas and desired research outcomes have been identified within the categories. The 2026 call for LOIs encompasses the top three research priorities that are identified below. This call does not preclude projects not in the top identified research categories.

Improved Poultry Health (including disease prevention)

  • Emerging and re-emerging diseases (e.g., HPAI, IBV, aMPV, IBH, Histomoniasis) and other pathogen-specific concerns (e.g., SE, Campylobacter)
  • Development and evaluation of new or improved vaccines
  • Early detection and flock health monitoring
  • Understanding pre-existing health conditions contributing to DOAs
  • Air quality and ventilation improvements

 Enhanced Antimicrobial Stewardship (including alternatives)

  • Feed and water additives (e.g., probiotics, essential oils, acidifiers)
  • Gut health strategies
  • Economic and practical barriers to adoption
  • Alternative production systems and genetic considerations

Enhanced Poultry Welfare & Behaviour

  • Stocking density impacts (especially in breeders)
  • Environmental enrichment and outcome measures
  • Extended lay & bird longevity
  • Welfare risks under extreme weather conditions

Maximum Project Value

CPRC invites applicants to respect a total limit of $60,000 for the CPRC portion of funding, which includes direct and indirect costs. A maximum overhead of 25% is acceptable to CPRC (included in the total CPRC budget).

Industry funds, whether from CPRC or another source, must be matched by matching funds from sources other than industry in a proportion of at least 1 :1. Higher quid pro quo ratios are preferable.
