Current Ontario Secondary School Curriculum Minimum Course Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Equivalent
• English: Grade 12 C or U English
• Math: Grade 12 C Math or any Grade 12 U Math
• Biology: Grade 11 C or U Biology
• Chemistry: Grade 12 C or Grade 11 U Chemistry

Each of the courses listed above must have:

• A minimum final grade of 75% at the ‘C’ level
• A minimum final grade of 65% at the ‘U’ level

Program Notes:

• Career questionnaire: as part of your admissions process, a career questionnaire will be provided to ensure that students have an aptitude for, an interest in, and an understanding of a career in veterinary technology when they apply to the veterinary technology program.
• Proof of an adequate titre against rabies: is a requirement for continuation of study within the program, and you will be required to obtain immunization and provide documentation of an adequate antibody titre by September in your first year of study. The process to obtain your immunization and titre draws is lengthy and it is recommended that you begin this process as soon as you have accepted your seat in the program. This vaccination and titre will enable you to begin participating in hands-on activities as early as September or October of your first year. If you do not obtain your rabies immunization and/or titre draws ahead of beginning the program, it will delay your eligibility to participate in hands-on activities with live animals that are required by the program.
