Black Graduation and Achievement Ceremony
University of Guelph Black Graduation and Achievement Ceremony
Black graduation ceremonies are well-established at universities across North America and have long served as meaningful spaces to recognize the unique experiences, contributions and resilience of Black students within higher education. At the University of Guelph, the Black Graduation and Achievement Ceremony was developed in collaboration with our Black student clubs and societies with support from the University’s Diversity and Human Rights Office and the Provost's Office, and it reflects our shared commitment to uplifting Black student success, fostering community, and celebrating cultural pride and accomplishment.
The ceremony is an opportunity to honour Black achievements, dedication and excellence alongside peers, family and community.
Registration Information
Registration opens in April for the Black Graduation and Achievement Ceremony. This celebration is for Black-identifying students who are in the Spring and Fall graduating class for the academic calendar year.
The ceremony is offered in a hybrid format, with both in-person and virtual attendance options available.
Please note that this event is a community celebration and is separate from the University’s official convocation ceremonies and graduation processes. Participation or non-participation in this event does not replace or affect your formal convocation requirements.
