Position Description:

The Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph invites applications for a three year, teaching stream, contractually limited position in applied human nutrition at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective 1 August, 2016.

A PhD in human nutrition is required.  Applications are welcome for those who are “All but Dissertation” (ABD), with a dissertation defense scheduled.  Membership of Dietitians of Canada, and Registered Dietitian status, would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have a strong teaching record at the undergraduate level and evidence of ongoing scholarly activity.  Applicants should be able to teach a range of courses in applied human nutrition, which could include: Introduction to Nutrition, Nutritional Assessment, Aging and Nutrition, Nutrition Throughout the Lifespan, Special Topics in Nutrition, Nutrition Education and Foodservice Management.   In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to serve on graduate committees and contribute to other service and scholarly activities. 

The Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition is an interdisciplinary department that offers three undergraduate majors, including one in Applied Human Nutrition and six graduate programs, which include thesis-based PhD and MSc programs in Applied Human Nutrition and a professional Masters in Applied Nutrition.
