Position Description:
The College of Business and Economics of the University of Guelph invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Dean, Executive Programs. This position will serve a five-year term with potential for renewal for an additional five years.

Formed in 2006, the College of Business and Economics is the youngest college at the University of Guelph, but delivers one of the largest business programs in Ontario with approximately 4,000 students currently enrolled. Our College provides a learning environment that encourages critical reflection, personal growth, and promotes traditional and emerging themes of management and economics. We offer a wide range of specialized programs in business and economics across undergraduate, graduate, and professional education.
Comprised of four primary academic units – Management, Economics and Finance, Marketing and Consumer Studies, and the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management – CBE offers a range of well-respected undergraduate and graduate programs, including an MA (Leadership) and an MBA, currently with streams in hospitality and tourism, food and agribusiness management, and sustainable commerce.
The Assistant Dean, Executive Programs will provide strategic leadership and develop the organizational environment that will achieve excellence and growth in CBE's Executive Programs. The successful candidate will champion innovative curriculum development and quality program delivery in the existing MA (Leadership) and MBA programs, which include both online and residential components. The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for identifying, developing, and launching additional graduate and professional programs, in keeping with CBE's strengths. Reporting to the Dean, the Assistant Dean will assess professional development opportunities to develop a full range of offerings for executive learners, supporting the career and personal growth of our students, while making a significant contribution to the financial position of the College.
Ideal candidates for this position will be dynamic, innovative, transformational leaders with a firm sense of balance between academic and applied/entrepreneurial endeavours. Candidates will possess an open and collegial style; outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills; a creative approach to problem solving; the ability to inspire faculty, staff and students; the capacity to build community and sustain positive relationships with all constituents; experience with a variety of learning technologies, distance education and innovative pedagogy; and a commitment to leading CBE's future development and growth in executive programs. Academic experience, particularly with respect to the advancement of active learning in an area of focus specific to CBE's executive programs is required. A record of scholarship in a related field is also preferred.
Applicants must hold a Master's degree (ideally an MBA) and have earned a doctorate in a field relevant to the work of the College of Business and Economics. Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate in Management or Business. Candidates must have a demonstrated astuteness for working within a university environment.
