Position Description:
We are seeking applications from current Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) faculty members for the position of Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies). The Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) (ADRGS) is a key member of the OAC senior leadership and is responsible for leading and managing research and innovation in OAC, as well as the graduate programs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Chairs and Directors to coordinate college-wide research activities to achieve the strategic goals of OAC and the University of Guelph.
- Facilitating research initiatives including Research Chair development opportunities.
- Developing and overseeing research support and coordination programs for OAC, including faculty mentorship and managerial oversight for the OR5 process.
- Ensuring efficient utilization of resources for research program delivery, including day-to-day management of OAC commitments within the OMAFRA partnership. In close partnership with the Dean of OAC, to maintain a very strong liaison with OMAFRA and with the office of research at The University of Guelph.
- Providing leadership and college-wide coordination on research infrastructure and equipment planning.
- Interacting with industry, organizations, and government to build research and business development opportunities including networking with research partners and working groups related to research. Coordinating these activities with the Associate Dean (External Relations) OAC to ensure that the potential of partnerships is fully realized.
- Managing staff within the OAC Dean's Office.
- Attending Research Advisory Board, Graduate Studies Council, OAC Dean's Council and other relevant committees.
- Representing OAC internally and externally, acting on behalf of other Associate Deans and acting as Dean, as necessary.
The Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) position will be a 70% administrative appointment.
