Submission of live animals for immediate euthanasia and postmortem is encouraged to help ensure a high rate of diagnostic accuracy in casessuch as outbreaks of diarrhea in young pigs, ruminants, poultry, and agricultural rabbit submissions. Note that AHL euthanasia fees mayapply at the discretion of the pathologist (contact the lab for a quotation). There is a minimum fee for euthanasia of live animals but additionalfees may apply depending on species, number of animals and size. Livestock weighing >50 kg will be transferred to the OVC-Large AnimalHospital to be euthanized by a large animal clinician – extra fees will apply. Adult animal euthanasia is not available at AHL-Kemptville. Pleasecontact the AHL at 519 824-4120 Ext. 54530 in advance for ALL live animal submissions with an estimated arrival time to facilitate preparations.LIVE ANIMALS MUST BE TRANSPORTED HUMANELY.
