HFTP Sending Two HTM Students to 2014 HITEC Conference

Submitted by lfodor on April 15th, 2013 2:10 PM

The professional association HFTP has agreed to cover the costs of sending two students annually to their HITEC conference. The students will work the event, which is one of the world’s largest boasting an attendance of approximately 7,500 industry professionals. The students will also make a presentation at iHITA, which is the academic conference associated with HITEC. This is an amazing opportunity and resume-booster! The University of Guelph is fortunate to be one of twenty Universities worldwide HFTP is offering this to. Other Universities involved include a veritable who’s whom of the world’s most prestigious hotel schools: Hong Kong Polytechnic, Cornell, Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, Penn State, Delaware, and Houston.

Much like Young Hotelier Summit, there will be an application process to choose the attending student participants. The application process will begin next October and complete in mid-November with a presentation in HTM*3060, Hotel Management. More information will be forthcoming in early September in time for the start of the Fall 2013 semester. Finally, while YHS is intended for fourth–year students HFTP’s HITEC is intended for third-year students. Thus, all current second year students should think about applying! HITEC-Los Angeles is in 2014; who doesn’t want five days and nights in beautiful Los Angeles!?!? And for current first-year students, HITEC-2015 is in Austin, Texas!
