Assistant Prof. Mike von Massow helps to deliver the Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) Scholarship Program which is offered by the Partnership Agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and the Ministry of Rural Affairs. A recent At Guelph article highlight's from a grad student's perspective, how this program which integrates science, business and marketing, and helped prepare her for work in her industry.

According to von Massow, the Integration of Science and Business course sets technology development in the broader context of the market. Innovation involves both discovery and commercialization - and the challenges are usually greater at the commercialization stage. The course includes applying business planning, strategy, leadership and other critical concepts and introduce key skills such as communications and negotiations. The objective is to improve the market readiness of graduate students regardless of where they choose to work.
