Young Hotelier Summit Presentations

Submitted by lfodor on January 14th, 2014 8:31 AM

This year's YHS presentations will be occurring this afternoon from 2:30pm-4pm in MCLN Room 102.  All HTM professors and students are welcome to attend!

Attendance will be especially beneficial to any students interested in being a part of YHS in future years. Here is a basic rundown of what YHS entails and what to expect:

1. Young Hotelier Summit is a competition in Lausanne, Switzerland for fourth-year hotel-focused students at the world's most-established hospitality universities.

2. This year Shangri-La, STR, Starwood, Hyatt, Carlson Rezidor, Fairmont, and Expedia are the primary sponsors for this year's event. Obviously some power players in the hotel industry!

3. Six finalists were chosen this year. Three will be selected based on their presentations this afternoon. These six students are: Thomas Beckett, Ashley Ferreira, Emily Pritchard, Julie Ridlington, Hildegard van Niekerk, and Stephanie Walker.

4. The Director of Recruitment for Starwood Erin Heid, Director of Recruitment for Fairmont Jennifer DiRaddo, the President of HTM Alumni Association David Humphrey, and past YHS winner and HTM alumni Derek Beirnes will be visiting from off-campus and functioning as judges for the presentations.
